На пороге грандиозного шухера...

The Russian Air Force conducted over 20 reconnaissance flights above the Deir Ezzor Governorate on Sunday, capturing footage of the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) movements between their strategic supply route from the aforementioned Syrian province and the Al-‘Anbar Governorate of western Iraq.

According to a military source from the Syrian Arab Army’s 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Russian Air Force notified the SAA’s officers stationed at the Deir Ezzor Military Airport of their flights above the province, adding that these were merely for reconnaissance purposes and that they are coordinating with the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) to monitor the terrorist group’s movements.

While conducting these flights above the Deir Ezzor Governorate cities of Al-Mayadeen, Abukamaal, and Mohassan, the Russian Air Force repeatedly crossed the Iraqi border and entered the Al-Anbar Governorate, where they flew as far east as the city of Al-Heel to capture footage of the terrorist group.

This is the second time in two weeks that the Russian Air Force has entered Iraq’s airspace; however, the SAA military source asserted that they were granted approval by the Iraqi Armed Forces before crossing their border.

The U.S. led “Anti-ISIS Coalition” launched their own airstrikes above the Deir Ezzor and Al-‘Anbar Governorates on Sunday, striking the terrorist group at a number of different sites; this included the imperative city of Al-Qa’im on the Syrian-Iraqi border.
